I’ve been practicing Breathwork for several years, but it’s been a little over a year since I committed to it religiously. And let me tell you… the benefits and changes I’ve experienced since then have been truly impressive!
So, what do I mean by “practicing religiously”?
Every single day, without fail, I dedicate a minimum of 15 minutes to breathwork in the morning and another 15 minutes in the evening. Often, I practice for much longer, but 15 minutes is my non-negotiable minimum. I’ve also started incorporating brief check-ins throughout the day—moments where I simply notice how I’m breathing and, if time allows, add a few minutes of a breathing technique that serves me in that moment.
Breathwork, like any other form of training, requires consistency. Training your breath is essentially training your nervous system, and just like physical exercise, the results come with regular practice.
Now, you might be thinking, “This sounds like a lot of commitment—how do you fit this into a busy day?”
Here’s the thing: the clarity, focus, and energy I gain from my practice have made me more productive, not less. The time I invest in breathwork pays me back tenfold in terms of efficiency and well-being.
So, what exactly have I gained from this practice?
Some benefits showed up almost immediately, while others took a little more time to fully manifest. But all of them are directly linked to my breathwork and nervous system training:
- Reduction in emotional eating – In most cases, this coping mechanism simply isn’t needed anymore.
- Lower cortisol levels – This has led to better weight management, reduced inflammation, and improved digestion.
- Improved sleep – No more waking up at 3 a.m. and struggling to fall back asleep!
- Better focus – My ability to concentrate has significantly improved.
- More energy – I feel energised from morning until evening.
- More compassion and patience – My relationships have deepened as I’ve become more present and patient with my loved ones.
When I first started, I assumed the breathing I did during yoga was enough. But in modern Western yoga, breathwork often takes a backseat. Plus, without tailoring the practice to an individual’s nervous system, the benefits are limited.
That’s why I’m so excited to announce that next week, I’ll be launching two new 1:1 Breath & Body coaching programmes! These programmes are designed to help you build a practice that moves you out of chronic stress and keeps you there—no more short-term fixes.
If you’re ready to transform your life through breathwork and nervous system training, I’d love to chat with you. You can schedule a discovery call to learn more and secure one of the limited spots.
Here’s to breathing better, living better, and thriving together!
Until then – happy Breathing and
Much Love,
Svenja
